REFLECTIONS ABOUT MY ART AND MY PART IN IT
Though all kinds of creations have sprung out of me throughout life, it is only recently that I discovered the immense joy of simply being witness to the process of creation. And the homage paid to both process and result by letting it be what it is. The wonder that allows me to draw and watch and be floored by awe and gratitude simultaneously.
I very rarely have a fixed idea to follow. Each line I draw, each picture I take, each word I write comes from a place or state that I cannot ascribe to a specific faculty or location. I like to leave the description like that, an untouched yet wildly creative place. Like a tiny dot somewhere, not yet formed but full of potential.
As I watch my drawings unfold, or the beauty of the pictures I have taken, or when I re-read a text I wrote, I can only feel thankful to be a part of that creation. In a way, my art acts as a doorway to my heart. Nature and life are at the core of the inspiration always, and I become a tool for their creation. They open the doors into the wonder of the many ways in which it is possible to view the world.
Life isn´t and hasn´t always been easy, but it has given me a capacity for holding life and myself as a part of it. I believe that capacity to be available to us all; an embrace larger than words can muster. As such, my art becomes my teacher for moments in which I feel removed from life. It reminds me of lifes beauty and of the entirely immersive experience that we live and are.
I hope you may feel inspired and touched, not necessarily only through my art, but perhaps even more so through your own.
Simply good
I was asked once if I see myself as a passenger on the train or steering the train. In regards to any and not only creative processes I can say this: “When I´m driven it´s good.” This is where the seeds of awe, wonder, and gratitude lie. How else can we define good, if not by these measures? Yes, nature is both creator and creation. Through the creative expression, I feel myself like a conduit for both to unfold. I like to call it Nature. Another may call it God, another one simply, good.
